Introducing the top three trailing plants for containers this season.
Container gardening combines most of the pleasures of both indoor and outdoor gardening, but cuts down on much of the care and work. It’s like moving your indoor plants outdoors to better cultural conditions, or putting your flower border plants in boxes or pots where they’re easier to tend.
Planting Hostas in soil: Preparation is the key to success. If you can double dig your hosta or flower bed in early autumn and leave the sods of soil intact do not walk over what you dig.
Container grown Agapanthus: Plant one Agapanthus per pot as they soon grow to fill the container but they will only flower as soon as their roots have filled the pot completely. Agapanthus like their roots confined to flower well. You are better to pot the plants up slowly into a slightly larger pot each time this way they will flower every year, but if you do not mind waiting then yes plant one Agapanthus straight into a large container.
If you don’t have enough space to have your own garden, don’t despair. You can build a small vegetable patch or create a small garden of flowers just by using containers.
Container plants can spruce up your yard even if you have a large garden and flower beds. By using a beautiful container you can highlight a special plant so it stands out from a block of plants and gives your outdoor space character.
