How To Purchase The Best Pool Filters In The Market

Submitted by admin on February 23, 2011 – 10:44 pmNo Comment

Pool FiltersIf you want to make sure that the water in your swimming pool does not have sediment, dust and algae it is essential to have a filter. Nevertheless, as there are many different types, brands and designs of pool filters to choose from, this can be a daunting task for anyone

It is a common thing to try purchasing one similar to what your friends own or even what is in the favorite hotel in your area. If you intend to do this, please note that there are not two pools which are exactly alike. For the best service, you have to consider different issues including the location of the pool, how often you use the facility and the amount of water it holds.

Those living in a hot environment have to take this exercise very seriously. This is because the warm conditions promote a higher growth rate for algae, which means the water can get mucky quite easily. Leaves might also fall in the water in autumn hence clogging the filter.

From this background, it should not be that hard to find the appropriate one in the market. For most, you have to choose from three major categories which include the sand trap, cartridges and diatomaceous earth units. The sand trap works through passing the water through fine sand which helps trap fine particles. A large mesh is also installed at the intake which prevents larger debris from clogging the sand.

The good thing about this alternative is that it does not require a lot of maintenance. The only thing you will have to do is wash the sand bends to get rid of the dirt. Moreover, they are not high priced and they are very easy to find in the market. However, they are not really efficient and algae can start growing in your facility.

One might also opt for the cartridge filter. These units use paper or cloth cartridges to remove the particles in water. The main advantage is that they are readily available. They are also simple to use because they require no backwash for maintenance. This makes them perfect for areas with water restrictions. However, they eventually clog meaning you have to buy a new unit after a while.

The other filter category is diatomaceous earth filter. This uses fine earth particles held between plastic grids for filtration. It is the most efficient kind as it stops even the finest particles. Installing one of these units means less spending on chemicals for purifying the water. The filtration process also works faster with one of these units compared to the others.

However, they also present some level of disadvantage. For instance, you have to fill them up with diatomaceous earth every few days. Cleaning is also done by hand which makes it difficult compared to backwashing. You will also pay more for these pool filters compared to the others. Knowing the advantages of each of the three categories will make your work easier since you can concentrate on units in one category only.
