Improve The Look Of Your Old Wooden Patio Furniture With A Coat Of Paint

patio furnitureAfter many years of usage, it is but normal for your wooden patio furniture to lose its color and glean. But before you spend lots of money on a new set of patio furniture, you should think about applying a coat of paint instead.

Below are a few tips that will help you to get your old patio furniture looking new again with a lick of paint:

* Take a cloth or sponge and fully wash down the patio furniture to clean it; use a mix of water and detergent. Pay attention to the joints of the furniture as this is where most dirt and grime accumulates.

* After you have completely dried the furniture you should get some fine sandpaper and sand down the entire surface. The surface of the wooden furniture must be rough so that the primer will stick to it.

* The dust from the sanding has to be removed once you have finished sanding it down.

* Once you have prepared the furniture then you need to coat it in a primer that has been made for wood. Place your furniture on some old newspaper when you are painting so that you do not have to clean up afterwards.

* It is better to leave the primer to dry over night before you paint the furniture.

* A second coat of primer is a good idea if you have the patience to do this because it provides a better sticking surface for the paint and it also provides more protection to the furniture.

* Once the furniture is completely dry, you have to use a good paint designed for wood. The paint will have to be applied in smooth even layers. Let the paint dry naturally.

When the paint has dried, you can sit back and relax on your wooden patio furniture that looks as good as new.
