Items Needed For Pool Safety

Pool SafetySwimming pools are extremely fun, but can also be very dangerous. Thus, pool safety is imperative. Pool owners have a responsibility and need take precautions for safety’s sake. Many options are available to ensure safety.

One consideration to make is some type of precaution which keeps the pool secluded from pets and loved ones who may not be water safe. A way to do so is by use of some type of pool alarm. These alarms will alert people if the surface of the water becomes disrupted. Another way to be certain the pool remains isolated is to mount a pool fence. A pool fence can be built as a permanent structure or installed as a removable structure. Yet another safety measure option is a pool net. These are established by having stakes embedded into the pool decking. After this, the net will be stretched over the surface of the pool and attached at the stakes, taken off and reattached each time the pool is used. Should one walk on top of the net they would be saved from falling through.

Along with this, alarms can also be placed on the home doors. This will alert adults in the home as to when a child or pet goes outside. Be mindful that small children may crawl through doggie doors. Consider if this will give the child access to a pool in order to determine if doggie doors should be closed off and rerouted. An additional safety precaution is an alarm placed at the pool water level. The other piece of the alarm is on a band. The band is worn, like a bracelet, on a non-swimmer or pet. Should the alarmed bracelet pass into the water, the alarm will sound. It is recommended that this system be used in conjunction with another as the bracelet could be removed by the one wearing it.

As pools are planned and built, be sure to include steps to allow for exit. Once a non-swimmer or pet enters the water, they will need a simple way to get out. If a home includes pets, a doggie ramp can be included somewhere in the pool to allow access out of the pool after a pet enters. This can also be useful in the unfortunate event that a pet falls in the pool.

Pools definitely make the hot summer months exciting. Both families and friends enjoy gathering together and a pool makes for the ideal summer gathering spot. Precious memories and celebrations can be had at the family pool. Take the necessary precautions, however, to keep these memories safe and happy.
