Things That Make Up A Good Mailbox

Did you realize that your mailbox is usually the first thing people see when they pull up to your house? Most people do not give much thought to their mailboxes at all.

If your mailbox is old or you just want to replace it with a newer model that could make your home look better now is the time. There are a lot of different mailboxes out there to choose from: Here are a few things to keep in mind while shopping for one.

Cutesy designs for mailboxes were the rage a decade ago; people could get a mailbox in the shape that they wanted even ones that were in the shape of a dog or bird. Go for the classic look it never goes out of style.

Be careful not to choose something that will catch the eye of a vandal. Some designs will become a target for vandals and leave you to have to replace them. A classic mailbox may help avoid this type of issue.

Of course you will want your new mailbox to be durable and last for as long as possible. If you purchase a completely weather resistant mailbox, your mailbox will look new for years with little to no maintenance required.

You’ll want to make sure that your mailbox and the post you mount it on are made from a rust resistant, durable aluminum material. The box itself should always have a weather safe powder coat finish for extra protection.

Remember if you mount your mailbox on a brick or stone pillar you will not be able to take it with you if you move. You can always special order your mailbox with a matching post that is completely portable. In our transient society this is a very cost effective approach.

For extra functionality you could order a mailbox that is designed with plenty of room and also has an attached newspaper holder. This way you will not have your mail and newspapers falling out of your mailbox.
