Top 3 Fruits and Vegetables to Grow in Your Garden
Nothing is more exciting for a gardener than to try their own fruits and vegetables. As vegetable and fruit plants take many months to grow, a lot of maintenance and care is required in order to grow these plants into perfection. This article has a look at the top 3 fruits and vegetables you should go for. I went for the easiest and most rewarding fruits and vegetables.
The first type of fruit you should grow is the tomato. There is a lot of dispute going on about whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable but it seems it is more appropriate to call it a fruit. I am sure a few of you would disagree though. Tomatoes are not too difficult to grow but you will need to care for them carefully if you want ripe and plump tomatoes by the end of it. The best thing is that you only need to grow one or two tomato plants in order to harvest a lot of them. They first appear as green and small bulbs before they turn into a red shade. Tomato plants need a lot of light so make sure they are placed in areas which receives the most sunlight during the day. The sunlight also has another purpose. Tomato plants grow best in warm soil conditions so you will want the soil to be heated as much as possible by natural sunlight.
The second type of vegetables are lettuces and cabbages. They need a lot of watering but they are relatively easy and fast to grow. You can use the lettuce in salads and various oriental dishes. Koreans like to use lettuce to wrap it around their meat and rice. This is a much healthier alternative than just having the meat alone. Lettuces are ideal during early spring and or fall, when the weather tends to be cool but not too cold.
The third crop I would like to recommend are grapes. They are probably the hardest to grow out of the three I have mentioned but they are the most rewarding due to the hard work you have to put in. You will need to set up stilts in order for the grape vines to grow. If you have a successful harvest of grapes then you can even attempt to make your own grape juice or wine. Like tomatoes, grapes need a lot of sunshine. Never plant these fruit trees in the shade. The grape vines move up for a good reason. Grape vines make every effort to climb trees and walls in order to get as much sunlight as it can.
